In Darfur: A Short History of a Long War, there's a few victims stories. One story is about a young man who was the only one to survive. He states that the Janjaweed cut the throat of his mother. They raped and killed his oldest sister and they killed his brother and father. They threw all there bodies in a well. The young man escaped execution by hiding under a dead mule.
Julie Flint and Alex de Waal (author of Darfur: A Short History of a Long War) report another man's story about two attacks his village suffered in 2003. The Janjaweed came alone the first time. They killed forty-two men. They killed sixteen people attending a funeral in the mosque. They burned 8 of the village's 300 huts. They stole more than 3,000 cows, as well as goats, sheep, horses, and donkeys. A few weeks later, the Janjaweed returned. This time soldiers came along with them. The soldiers stood around the village and watched while the Janjaweed killed eighty people, including women and children.
In Not on Our Watch, Don Cheadle and John Prendergast relate the story of a woman who escaped a Janjaweed attack on her village. The Janjaweed killed her mother, husband, and five children. The woman walked for seven nights to reach a refugee camp. During the day, she hid under trees and plants so the Janjaweed wouldn't find her.
Analysis: The primary source from where i got my information was from the book "Genocide in Darfur" By: Janey Levy, I chose 3 survivor stories from witch survived from the Janjaweed. What the primary source says about the crisis is describing what the Janjaweed did to the Black African Americans. The Janjaweed stole there cows, goats, sheep, horses, and donkeys. They killed Black African Americans, and they burned villages and huts. The people that went through what the Janjaweed did to them, was the people that created the source. The book was created in 2009. The source was created towards the end of the crisis. This source intensified the crisis. The perspective of the source was from young black African Americans. These primary sources support my claim because in my claim I state that there's a genocide in Darfur because the Arab/ Janjaweed government is killing Black African Americans and in my sources, there's proof that there's been killings in Darfur against the black African Americans.
